  • Good for Something

I assume most toddlers/babies/small children (and maybe even the "big" kids) love boxes the way Abigail does.  I was sorting the plethora of clothes piled in the corner of the closet that Luke has grown out of today so boxes were all over the kids' room.  For the record, we're moving into the 12 month category of clothing now on Luke, and yes, he is only 5 months old.

Back to boxes. Abigial climbed into one and wanted me to push her around.  Now, we do this fairly often but tonight I really wasn't in the mood.  I was however feeling creative so I decided we should make a firetruck out of her box.  I could have kept adding to it all night but we were an hour past her bedtime and needed to call it quits.

I'm totally inspired now by the boxes.  I think Luke is getting a Firetruck-themed 1 year old birthday party and we're making a whole fleet!

    Truck 02!

The taillights and license plate... which Abby helped put on.  The perfectionist in me has a hard time letting her participate.. but since we WERE doing it for her & it's supposed to be fun, I have to let some things go.

    Firetruck taillights

Our "ladder" which Abby helped color.

Cap. Abby with firehat (thanks to a party favor from awhile ago & a dalmation, thanks to a McDonald's Happy Meal)

And the really big mess we made...

So as soon as we're done, she hops in and says, "will you push me now?"

  • Links I Love

I've run across some great websites lately and I thought I'd pass them along.  Check these out if they sound interesting to you and feel free to share some of your own.

    Chronicles of a Babywise Mom

I know, the word "babywise" brings out strong emotions in us all.  I have friends that swear by babywise and others that absolutely hate it.  Ken and I are for everything in moderation and we have found many practical ideas throughout their books even if we don't implement all of their ideas.  I especially liked Becoming  Preschoolwise when I read it earlier this year.

This link is to a blog of a mom who uses Babywise and also lots of the Babywhisperer (Tracy Hogg, whom I DO love) techniques.  She does parenting book reviews (not just the Ezzos stuff), summaries of big ideas and shares from her own experiences.  I constantly find great tidbits in it.

The post today was especially fun for me to read and get ideas from as I'm working on adding more intentional learning moments into Abigail's day.

    TotBargains

This is a recent favorite.... take advantage of great deals that another mom (whom I happen to know is a great one!) finds for you.

    Baby Steals

Another deal finding site, although their stuff is often repetitive and it's botique type stuff so I still think it's too expensive, even when 1/2 off.. However, they do occassinally post babylegs and Robeez shoes, both which I'm a big fan of.

    Homemade Baby Food

Thinking of doing your own?  I am... check out this helpful site.
